There is the photograph everybody expects—and then there is everything around it. The waiting. The wrong door. The light on concrete. Missed Photo Ops begins there.

For the first entry, Ruehl follows the edges of Don Toliver's NITROUS — OCTANE WORLD TOUR LEG 2 in Birmingham. The portrait never came together, but the night kept offering images: the Octane trailer, merch, strangers, concrete, receipts, loading doors, and the architecture around Legacy Arena.

This is not a play-by-play of the concert. It is a study of proximity, patience, and the details that collect around a photograph before it happens—a record of being there, looking closely, and leaving with a different story than the one planned.

Keep the frames that feel too fast, too dark, too close. Sometimes the accident carries more truth than the clean shot.
